Vector Engineers served as geotechnical consultants for the Colonial Hills Sound Barrier Wall. The wall was located on the north side of the northwest ramp of Newburg Road and the Henry Watterson Expressway in Louisville, Kentucky. Faulkner Construction constructed the 1,560 feet long and approximately 16 feet tall wall. The foundations consisted of 3-foot diameter, reinforced drilled shafts. Over the course of the wall, both rock socketed and soil bearing drilled shafts were used. Vector Engineers worked closely with the design team including pre-cast concrete panel manufacture, DeAm-Ron Building System, and the structural engineer, Mr. Tim Maurer with Maurer Structural Engineering, LLC, resulting is significant construction cost savings.
